Drinktec 2025: Sustainability and Digitalization Lead the Way
Drinktec 2025 showcased the technologies and trends reshaping the global beverage and liquid food industry. This year’s event in Munich brought in 58,000 visitors from more than 160 countries around the world. Key themes pointed to how digitalization and sustainability are driving the sector forward. Drawing both from innovations demonstrated on the show floor and firsthand commentary, here’s what stood out at the world’s leading trade fair for two of our primary industries.
Digitalization Driving the Next Wave of Innovation in Beverage Production
Digitalization continued to gain momentum, with many exhibitors highlighting how AI, IoT, and data analytics can optimize production. Intelligent monitoring in various conditions, driven by real-time data integration making way for predictive maintenance are becoming table stakes, helping beverage producers improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and make confident data-driven decisions.
As our CEO/Founder Jared Resnick shared in a QuickSip interview with Drinktec, “...with AI and predictive analytics, our Sennosystem creates an opportunity for brewers and fermentation professionals to be more creative and put more information into the hands of [customers]. Instead of looking at a single data point in isolation, our technology gives brewers multiple parameters in real time so they can see the total value and the total possibility of their product.”
Focus on Sustainability and Resource Management
Resource efficiency was top of mind, with companies unveiling systems that decrease unnecessary water, energy, and material use. Lightweight packaging and innovations in recyclability and reuse also drew significant attention, underscoring the industry’s move toward circularity. Flexibility and efficiency were also consistent themes across new products. Modular filling systems, compact canning lines, and energy-saving brewing technologies all signaled toward a future of smaller footprints and lower operating costs.
At Sennos we are aligned with the industry's growing focus on sustainable practices and resource efficiency by optimizing production efficiency and reducing waste through leveraging real-time, actionable fermentation data.
Responding to Consumer Trends
In line with global demand shifts, Drinktec 2025 also spotlighted technologies for producing alcohol-free and low-alcohol beverages. Brewers and equipment makers demonstrated processes that remove alcohol while preserving aroma, taste, and body, meeting the rising interest in “sober-curious” lifestyles without sacrificing product quality. With interest in low- and no-alcohol drinks on the rise, technologies that preserve the essence of a beverage’s intent while reducing alcohol content were in focus—aligning innovation with evolving lifestyles.
Fermentation sensing and monitoring are essential for brewing high-quality non-alcoholic beer, giving brewers precise control over temperature, sugar content, pH, and yeast activity to ensure consistent flavor and minimal alcohol formation. Techniques such as arrested fermentation, specialized yeast strains, and cold contact fermentation rely on continuous monitoring to preserve the taste and body of traditional beer while keeping alcohol levels below 0.5% ABV. Modern breweries increasingly integrate real-time sensors and digital platforms like SennosM3 to optimize fermentation conditions, improve scalability, and quickly address any deviations. By maintaining tight control throughout the process, brewers can produce non-alcoholic beers with fuller body, richer aroma, and greater flavor authenticity, overcoming the historical quality challenges of this category.
Digitization, Sustainability, and Innovation Shaping the Beverage Industry
Beverage producers are expected to embrace smarter, more sustainable systems that reduce environmental impact and boost quality, efficiencies, and profitability. Drinktec 2025 reminded us that the tools are already here, and we’re on the forefront of delivering ours on a global scale as the industry begins adopting them. Sennos has honed in on this shift through intelligent fermentation monitoring and control and data-driven toolsets that help brewers optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and support more sustainable operations.
